Company Search by CIN or LLPIN — Decode & Verify on MCA
Decode a Corporate Identification Number (CIN) to read a company's listing status, State, year and type — then verify the live record free on the Ministry of Corporate Affairs portal.
The default value is an example in the correct format, not a real company.
Verify on MCA master data (free)The format is valid. Only the MCA record confirms the company exists, its name, status (active / struck off) and directors.
How a CIN is built
Every company registered in India gets a 21-character CIN. Character 1 is L (listed) or U (unlisted). Characters 2–6 are the industry (NIC) code, 7–8 the State of the registered office at incorporation, 9–12 the year of incorporation, 13–15 the company type (PTC private, PLC public, OPC one person, NPL Section 8, FTC foreign subsidiary, GOI/SGC Government) and 16–21 the ROC registration number.
LLPs instead get an LLPIN such as AAA-1234.
Verify before you deal
Search the CIN or name on MCA master data to see the registered name, status (Active, Strike Off, Under Liquidation), date of incorporation, paid-up capital, registered address and directors. Check GSTIN separately on the GST portal and any litigation on eCourts.
Why the State may differ today
The State code reflects where the company was registered. If it later shifted its registered office to another State, the CIN changes; always rely on the current MCA record.
